Profile
I am Jeremy Nell, and I am the most famous cartoonist you have never heard of.

A quick summary of my website. Some personal history. |
jeremynell.com – the home of my cartoons and blogging.
In late August 2008, I decided to personalise my brand, resulting in my corporate identity being overhauled; “Trash Media” became “jeremynell.com”.
This website is the home of my cartoons and my aimless rambling known as “blogging”. But besides that, I am available for illustration work.
Jeremy Nell – a brief autobiography.

I was born on 16 March 1979, and grew up – and still reside – in Cape Town, South Africa. I started drawing from as far back as I can remember. For years thereafter, my mother would take my father’s money to buy me things relating to comics; from videos and books, to puzzles and video games.
Suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder meant that finding a stable career path was always going to be tricky. Realising that university wasn’t for me (since I was failing), I migrated to an advertising school where I studied art direction and graphic design.
Which, for some reason, was followed up by me finding a job in a completely unrelated industry.
From 2003, I worked in a cubicle environment for a mobile entertainment multinational, where – towards the end of my employment – I unofficially became the creative director of one of their largest brands. I left the company in November 2005.
And that was when I decided to draw funny pictures for a living, and kind of get paid for it.
My clients range from heavyweight newspapers like The Times and Rapport, to glossy magazines like DEKAT, to social development projects such as The Big Issue.
