It’s 2010 And I’m Back At My Desk

And, if you’ve been following my Facebook updates, then you might know that Janel and I got engaged at sunset on New Year’s Eve.

In short,

  • we had a champagne picnic at a secluded beach along the west coast;
  • Janel wasn’t expecting me to propose;
  • neither were the cops who pulled us over and then let us go (telling us to “go make babies”) after Janel excitedly showed them her ring;
  • before I dropped the question, Janel saw the closed box and started crying;
  • after I dropped the question, Janel shouted “yes!” about four times, and carried on crying;
  • and forgot that the ring was still in the box and not on her finger;
  • at which point, I almost started crying (because the ring was still in the box and not on her finger);
  • thanks to my mom and my sister’s behind-the-scenes work, the ring fits perfectly;
  • thanks to Janel, I am eating baked beans on toast;
  • her full name will be hilarious: Janel Nell.

    • It’s all downhill from here, clearly.

      It’s not downhill from there .. it will get better and better. You have a beautiful future wife and she has a brilliant future husband. Remember that there will be downhills but the uphills will more than compensate and if your remember to treat her like the princess she probably is (otherwise you wouldn’t have wanted to marry her in the first place) she will treat with the respect you deserve for being clever enough (to choose her in the first place.)

      Awww… very sweet, glad to hear Janel shouted yes so many times although the crying always makes me wonder :P I smiled. Then again, I was expecting it, just not at the exact time it happened.
      Enjoy those baked beans, I don’t think Janel will be too keen to stay over though ’cause you’ll probably stink the house out ;) Congrats again.
