i totally support israel. hamas’ actions are absolutelu urban guerella tactics, where woman and children are used to shield combatents. if Gaza wants Israel to stop, then hand over the terrorists! it’s really that simple. As soon as israel enjoys peace they will relax controls. not once have they enjoyed any extended period of peace since the state was declared by united nations treaty. leave them the f***k alone

Firstly i am not sure that this is the forum for this and that Jeremy appreciates the tone of his website beng made so serious…but i dont really like Jeremy anyway so its his tough luck!

My Friend, you speak with much naiveity (sp?) firstly to call it a massacre is a joke, its a war, not a massacre. Wars are NEVER pretty, but you lose your objectivity when using language like that.

Secondly, of all people in the world to quote Neve Gordon…you may as well quote ronnie kasrils. if you are loking for credibility dont quote the fringe on either side. but let me update you. When Israel lef the Gaza strip there was NO blockade of borders, NO settlements inside ABSOLUTE free movement of people and goods. It seems you were not aware of that?

Until Hamas started firing rockets – to which i heard no objection from you or Neve Gordon (or Ronnie Kasrils or Zapiro) at the time. Then Israel closed the borders in an attempt to stop the attacks…but dont be fooled by uncle Neve, they fired rockets before the blockade,

Just as a side point, in fact in 1948…BEFORE there were settlements, AND BEFORE THERE WAS A a security barricade AND BEFORE there were border crossings and BEFORE there were check points and BEFORE Jerusalem was split or BEFORE Israel owned the Golan Heights, before Sabrah and Shatilah they attacked Israel…so, my friend, they will attack and attack…they will always find an excuse..and once again my friend, you havent answered my question…What are israel to do?

Anyway this is my last on this topic because Jeremy’s site is far more light hearted that this and i’m sure he want to keep it that way…

Hi JS, please know that I’m not disregarding the attacks on Israel by Hamas. Hamas are a bunch of cowards using dead Palestinians as an excuse for terrorism. However the world must not condone what Israel is doing here. 600 Palestinians have died and 1200 are in hospital in a place that has no electricity and medical supplies, it’s a massacre!

There is an Israeli professor named Neve Gordon who says:

“We just had a rocket about an hour ago not far from our house. My two children have been sleeping in a bomb shelter for the past week. And yet, I think what Israel is doing is outrageous. … The problem is that most Israelis say Israel left the Gaza Strip three years ago and Hamas is still shooting rockets at us. They forget the details. The detail is that Israel maintains sovereignty. The detail is that the Palestinians live in a cage. The detail is that they don’t get basic foodstuff, that they don’t get electricity, that they don’t get water. And when you forget those kinds of details, all you say is, ‘Why are they still shooting at us?’ That’s what the media here has been pumping them with, then you think this war is rational. If you look at what’s been going on in the Gaza Strip in the past three years and you see what Israel has been doing to the Palestinians, you would think that the Palestinian resistance is rational. And that’s what’s missing in the mainstream media here.�?

So even high profile Israeli citizens are against this massacre.

Tyron, let me assure you my friend, that while the palestinians may not be a threat to Israel’s statehood (although given Hamas’s stateed wish to drive all of Israel into the sea, their firendship with Iran and Irans drive to nuclear armourment this may not always be a given into the future) 6000 rockets falling into the neighbourhoods of sderot and ashdod moving all the closer to Tel Aviv is a MASSIVE threat to families living in the area (over 1 million people)

Today 25 rockets have fallen on Ashdod…and its barely lunch time…that eans that 25 times this morning little children have had to dive under their parents cars for cover or run down to their bomb shelters. So please dont underestimate the effect of 25 rockets falling in a morning on your neighbourhood. 70 percent of all children in those areas have post traumatic stress disorder.

Further, you seem to forget that there is a border between Gaza and Egypt which Israel does not control, yet the Egyptians have chosen to keep it closed. Why? Terrorists. When you own people seal off their borders for fear of your terrorist activities, what do you expect the people you bomb to do?

Finally hoping for ANOTHER truce is not going to help, Hamas tore it up.
So the question remains, while your indignance is appealing to those of us who have slept a night under israel skies whle Hamas shot rockets, You have still not made any practical suggestion as to what Israel should do
