Let’s discuss James Bond.
Tuesday, 11 November 2008, at 23:15Ordinarily, I’m not much of a James Bond fan. That is because, over the decades, the once very manly film somehow managed to evolve into a riveting story about the world’s top secret queer who crashes his car, drinks and gambles in casinos, and gets stripped down and tied up by a bunch of men.
In the next movie, his name should rather be James Bondage. Expectations wouldn’t be as high, then.
It stands to reason, therefore, that the better 007s were from the old school. Sean Connery and Roger Moore, for example, were super spies with tongue-in-cheek humour. Pierce Brosnan also had his moments.
But God only knows what happened with Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig.
That aside, who are your favourites?

Roger Moore is my type of Bond. I loved his cheekiness and that he didn’t take himself and the role too seriously. Sean was a cool Bond and Pierce was smooth, very smooth, but Roger is still my idea of intelligent manliness

My friend saw Roger Moore at Nice airport in September. She went up to him and asked if he is in fact Roger Moore. He responded by saying “on a good day I am Roger Moore” Shame oom! He is really old. But he was very nice and allowed them to take pics with him.
There is just something about Daniel Craig that does it for me… drewl… He’s not a pretty boy, he just has that something… grrrrrrr!!

I think ruan pienaar are the coolest Bond ever.
so what if he never actually played in the films, he’s got more moxie than those six in his pinkie finger. what’s more he’s waxed out the monobrow so is probably a hit with the leddies in every town from newcastle to nigel.
plus, i doubt timothy dalton has a ‘iluv timothy’ website

I have to go for Pierce, he had the voice, the look, and as Ri said, was very smooth. And his time started during the 90’s techno breakthrough era. So it added a nice finish to the action-packed terrorist ass whipping. Some crazy stunts. More smooth talking to the ladies. Machine guns and sneaky humour.

Pierce Brosnan can put his shoes under my bed any day
Wednesday, 12 November 2008, at 11:15
Oh gawd - no - Sean Connery was THE original Bond (I mean, really!!!) but I’m with you on Pierce!!! The latest one (whatshisname) is rather sexy too (make no mistake) but there’s that cruelness in the face that I have seen far too often in my life and I’ll steer well clear of that!
I’m gald they buried Timothy - he was a real prat and certainly not something Sarfefrican chicks would go for. We like our men to be men …… I think, anyway. Nothing more freaky than jostling for space in front of a mirror - believe me, I know.

This sounds like fun. Do tell.
Wednesday, 12 November 2008, at 12:04
Hehehe - thanks Jeremy, trust you to catch me out. Sadly, it was fully clothed and I was trying to put on make up. HE was preening. Such a turn off, a preening man.
You wanna hear that story? Bottle of wine … maybe two and lunch some place that has chefs that CAN cook.

For those of us whose first experience of Bond was reading the Ian Fleming book series Sean Connery was the epitome of the character. My children whose first introduction was to the Brosnan version the high tech and the image were congruent with their era. My 10 year old sees Daniel Craig as the only possible Bond. Roger Moore characterised himself as “The Saint” and could never be Bond if you had first seen him in that role on TV.
Wednesday, 12 November 2008, at 13:23
What is wrong with you people? Connery was and always will be the best bond he shagged the most birds had all the best oneliners shot tons of baddies even the female asassins were bedded bonked then blasted if need be.
Not once did he shed a tear nor stray from the task at hand like the other bonds
best scene ever goldfinger ” do you expect me to talk blofelt no Mr Bond I exspect you to die ”
Nuff sed

I only found out now that the car in the new 007 movie is the Aston Martin DBS… I saw a pic of the car, slipped off my chair, got the stupid dreamy grin off my face and am now trying to act normal.
Out of my way Bond! GIVE ME THAT CAR!!!!!!

To date, Moore is the longest-serving James Bond actor, having spent twelve years in the role (from his debut in 1973, to his retirement from the role in 1985), and made seven official films. (Connery also made seven, but his last Bond film, Never Say Never Again (1983), is not part of the official EON Productions series.) He is also the oldest actor to play Bond: he was 45 when he debuted, and 58 when he announced his retirement on December 3, 1985, as it was agreed by all involved that Moore was too old for the role by that point (he had actually tried to leave the role after For Your Eyes Only). Moore himself was quoted in the contemporary press as saying that he felt embarrassed to be seen making love scenes with beautiful actresses who were young enough to be his daughters.

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
James Bond: How will I recognize him?
Andrea Anders: Tall, slim, and dark.
James Bond: So is my aunt. Anything distinctive about him?
Andrea Anders: Yes, but how can I tell you? He’s not like other men.
Andrea Anders: [motions toward her chest] He has three…
James Bond: Fascinating anatomical tidbit. But probably the most useless piece of information I’ve ever heard. Unless, of course, the Bottoms Up is a strip club and Scaramanga is performing.
well, its funny to me any way *sniff*

Amandzing, that pic of Moore is okay - he has a beautiful face and I have never ever liked brawn, but oh my gawd, floppy tits are always floppy tits - in a man, nogal!!!!!!!!!!
Give me chubbiness any day.

connery is and always will be, the best bond. that voice can melt any woman…
and he’s a man’s man.
in second i’d put brosnan. but i really cant stand this new blonde bond.. he does nothing for the role in my opinion..

Sean Connery is the classic, but Pierce Brosnan has a certain charm that made him just as good. Too bad the movies of his era became so over the top that they started to look stupid. I like where they are going with the reboot - Casino Royale was certainly a good start - but Daniel Craig just doesn’t quite feel right in the role yet. Maybe he’ll grow on me, but that’s only because he has given me the honour of taking my first name as his last

sean gets my vote. Purely for the reason of my ex having his accent down pat and him being super sexy.

I would have liked to see Steven Segal in a bond movie, he would really have handled it well.
Thursday, 13 November 2008, at 08:14
Steven Segal would have been a good bond, he’s a cool and calm type of guy, and definitely a tough guy.
Thursday, 13 November 2008, at 08:46
Steven Segal? That is really funny.
I wonder who the worst choice for James Bond would be: Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, or Jennifer Aniston.

Thursday, 13 November 2008, at 09:28
The worst, to my mind HAS to be Robin Williams. Mi fa girare le palle!!!!!!!!!! I just had to say that because that is the only way that I can express my sentiments about him, but am to embarassed to translate it - go look on a translation site somewhere. Hehehe

Thursday, 13 November 2008, at 09:34
Hmm, Jennifer would then be compared to Angelina’s Lara Croft.
For me, Connery is the ultimate Bond. It’s not just the accent(OK, it’s mostly the accent) but he is smooth and confident. i’m off to the New Bond movie premiere tomorrow so I will then see what I think of the new Bond. I haven’t seen Casino Royale yet but DC has very high standards to live up to for me. Jeremy you need a ‘drool’ emoticon to choose from.
Thursday, 13 November 2008, at 09:45
LOL @ amandzing!
I think the worst bond would be Horatio Cane from CSI.
Bond *takes off glasses*
James *puts glasses back on again*
Bond *takes off glasses*
And he can’t communicate face to face, he always has to have his side towards you, so how is he going to pomp the pretty ladies? He’ll just end up humping their legs!

The Best Ever Bond survey was done last month in the UK and the poll results can be seen for both James and the Bond Girl at http://boxwish.com/blog/v...ll-time-favourite-line-up. I didn’t vote in it but the results were convincing
