This Zuma-Mbeki thing.
South Africans need to calm down. Granted, the country is experiencing dramatic political changes, but the naysaying hysteria that is abounding is unnecessary. Reverend Al Gore and his disciples predict that the polar bears will be extinct by lunchtime tomorrow, and that the rest of the planet will have drowned by next week Thursday, which, quite frankly, is a more pressing issue.
Besides, I like this Zuma-Mbeki thing. It provides me with cartooning ammunition; one president, one bullet.

Out of principle, I am very critical of the government, and in particular, the ANC. So much so, in fact, that I refuse to vote for them, on the grounds that they’re too strong. Any country that strives for a healthy democracy must have a robust opposition.
Unless, of course, you’re happy to live in a one-party dictatorship. In which case, you deserve to be smashed through the face with a brick.
The evident divide within the ANC is brilliant; they’re definitely going to implode in the near future. With increased prodding and poking from Motormouth Malema, Vacant Vavi, Nonsense Nzimande, and the rest of Zuma’s left-wing posse, the ruling party will bisect itself, resulting in a formidable opponent unlike the current miserable options. Which are nothing more than annoying little poodles continually yapping at the heals of their master.
Mbeki resigning is a blessing in disguise; the wheels are certainly not falling off. If anything, they are beginning to turn faster. History, which repeats itself, has shown that to be true.
Moreover, the polar bears are here to stay; Earth is not going to drown because of nice weather; and Zuma will not destroy South Africa’s economy because he enjoys showering.
Do not let the prophets of doom fool you.

A split in the ANC would be the best thing for SA politics. Unfortunately, both sides want the branding of the ANC name, so there might just be a lot more infighting for years to come.
Anyway, I’m more concerned about polar bears – they are far better to look at, and don’t even have words for corruption, fraud, etc.

It’s been said that Zuma is not going to keep the ANC name , he is going to shuffle the party around and change it’s name to CAN cause his party CAN do whatever they like.

On a more serious note, I think that the best thing that could happen to this country is a rift in the ANC. We need another strong party against the ANC. I would love it if the Mbeki followers now form their own political party – then we can have the brains vs the brainless. I would vote for them in a heartbeat!
So, I suspect, would many other white South Africans!
What fun we would have then.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the ANC is a crumbling monolith, and it’s days are numbered.
I’m so freakin’happy right now!
I could picture the scene, Zuma rallying his brainless sheep followers, getting them whipped up into a frenzy by the retard Malema. Taking up arms….
Then Mbeki, the wiley alcoholic, finally realising the only way to save the country is to appeal to the ENTIRE population, getting the support of black, coloured and white SA, and thumping the incestuous brain vacuum that is the ANC into the pages of history.
It might sound like rhetoric, but that’s what they said when I first said the ANC is only capable of self destructing.

haai boh! this is crazy now. I scheme Jesus needs to come so that this whole ANC disaster can just blow up in smoke before Julius Malema burns another t-shirt. I scheme it is a sad sad truth that Zuma is a dissappointingly dim puppet used by the aliance members and that he may feel even the slightest remorse in the unstable state he has placed our country in. in short…
what country can survive with a president that only went to school til 1st break?
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 09:27
Oh yes, and on the polar bear thing, Al must be sweating a bit seeing as the poles have recorded the coldest “winter”in years.
Maybe he is wrong about the global warming issue…..

HAHAHAHA KS!!!
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 11:09
Yeah, yeah , yeah
Seems like the Youth have proverbially been used and abused to create the environment were the Powers that “wanna be” can do exactly what they intended, without being branded and accused by the rest of the populace for being two-faced, back-stabbing creatures who make decisions only for their own enrichment.
This whole scenario has been orchestrated better than the Beijing Olympics, although everybody believed the pre-run verbal diarhea of the major players, the truth and integrity of those involved has now been shown. I wish SA votes with their brains and not their hearts (or more importantly on empty promises).
Just the same, I too believe that a split in the ANC is imminent and that it would provide the only viable and sustainable option for an opposition, but never forget Zim………
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 11:35
Mbeki should think about create his own party
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 12:29
Just the though makes me ecstatic! I would vote for him in a flash – even though he annoyed me more than you can believe, he is the only option – as is a split in the ANC
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 12:44
Pity that I do not believe he has the pull or the guts to stand as the opposition, he is too badly compromised.
What we would need would be fresh blood out of the “comrades” who could stand clean and clear without any fear of skeletons in the cupboard.
Someone that has not been tainted with the brush of business as usual (fraud and corruption).
Tall order for a politician, but then again I do believe some of them have integrity.
Whoever it is will have to take on the JZ’s, Mulemas, Vavi’s et al with their powerful call to “rise and destabilise” and their special methods of dealing with opposition. The person would have to be prepared to accept the scorn of the whole SA first as the aforementioned parties play the public and media like a violin, and where coercion does not work, they will use force. And once the person has been shown to be clean (which by a miracle may happen), he/she would be carried by the majority of SA citizens.
Is there still such a member???????
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 13:50
Jeez you know what I just don’t care. There I said it. I couldn’t give a rats arse, altough I might be convinced to vote for the Herstigte African National Congress
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 14:49
Guy, you crack me up, but isn’t that one of the problems ………….. to many of us don’t actually give a rattatoulli, because we don’t believe we can change it in any case?????
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 18:12
Don’t give a vegetable soup?
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 18:24
When it comes to food we’ll all start to care! Don’t mess with our Putu.
Jacoba is going to come up with a recipe for Humble Pie that will hopefully fit in all our retiring cabinet members budgets.
Seriously Swart is right – where can we put our faith to ensure the “revolution” meets its goals. How do we “eliminate” the violent threats of the youth/cosatu/SACP(communists)?
Is there a list of Good Guys that we can approach to pick up the pieces of the last week quickly enough to be a real factor in the upcoming elections?
I see a lot of good guys being outed but at the same time some stay sucked in by the promises of benefits of being in the system.
Guy the HANC has white strength which will sink it – is there a Zulu/Xhosa equivalent catch name? Swart let’s get there and make it happen.
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 19:13
Guy, not giving a rat his arse is *so* last year…
Now is the time to stand up and let your vote count.
*dons pom poms anti zooooma*
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 21:55
We need a white president.
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 21:59
Sicovit, that was probably the least intelligent comment I’ve read all day.
We need an intelligent, moral and strong president. It has nothing to do with what colour he/she should be.
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 22:13
candy: what country can survive with a president that only went to school til 1st break?
you crack me up!
some of the analysts have said that things aren’t in crisis mode simply because its all been done in such an orderly fashion. i think i agree…
1. i think its sad how the whole situation has unfolded, though wonder why mbeki did not defend himself.
2. crisis, what crisis?
3. a split in the anc has many possibilities that could result in positive spin-offs.
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 23:13
History has a bad habit of biting one on the butt…. Just as FW told PW to take a hike. I would like the entire cabinet to resign and force this country into an early election. Let us then watch the fun and games
A cell splits into many parts in the body…. So will the ANC split into many parts and end up contesting one another…. I want a bigger lollipop… Mine is smaller than yours… Fight me for it….. Julius…. “kill” for Papa Jacob, pleez….
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 23:17
We need to sit down at a table and talk AND LISTEN to one another.
I’ll just pretend that I didn’t read your comment Sicovit, my goodness – that was really a little bit below you, wasn’t it? No need to play in the mud just because ‘comrade’ Zuma does!
I’ll make the pie, Grey, you get them to sit down at the table with agenda’s left outside – let’s talk. Let us, the common man, sit down and thrash out a solution and then give it to the politicians who need to remember who put them there in the first place.
My own personal bug bear for the day? Marthinus van Schalkwyk – I could feed him
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 23:18
a rotten Bombay duck and watch him squirm. Yuch!
Monday, 22 September 2008, at 23:20
You really believe that our honourable politicians would risk their salaries for their beliefs, Count Kaz? Think again sunshine, think again.
